History of CCA
Chicago Christian Academy (CCA) was founded in 1950 as a joint venture by several churches on the northwest side of Chicago. These churches desired to provide quality education with a strong biblically-based focus.
During the first five years of operation, CCA had a different home nearly every year. Then in 1956, Calvary Tabernacle [then located at 5100 W. Diversey Ave] built the current single-story school building. Evangel
Assembly of God purchased the buildings in 1975, and CCA remained in the 5110 building until 1979. Good Shepherd Bible Church then offered CCA a home in the new education wing of its building. At that location, CCA included a high school program until downsizing around 1988.
After CCA left the Diversey location, the school building remained vacant until 1982, when Evangel opened Lambs of Fold Preschool. A Kindergarten Program was added by 1985. In 1990, the name was changed to Evangel Christian School when an early elementary program was added, with plans to expand to 6th grade by 1991.
However, in the spring of 1991, Good Shepherd Bible Church decided to sell their building, causing CCA to look for another location. At this time, the pastors of Good Shepherd contacted Evangel about allowing CCA to move back into its school building.
So CCA came "home" again, assimilating the students of Evangel Christian School into its program. We currently offer 3-year-old Preschool through 8th Grade.
Steady growth has taken place over the years, and plans for expansion including a building to house all classes and a gymnasium.
CCA remains, as from the beginning, committed to providing quality education with a biblically-based focus.
